stories of the lady of the forest
Though Bonbibi is (literally) the “lady of the forest,” she is not a forest goddess. She protects the people of the Sundarbans from the wild, which is indeed often vicious: animals such as the iconic Bengal tiger, cyclones, constantly shifting sandbars, and routine flooding manifest as a constant threat to life in the Sundarbans. When things begin to look awry, community members pray to Bonbibi. Those we’ve spoken to say she saves them.

story and prayer
(story and prayer intertwined, instances in which plays as prayer would happen — in general i think the bonbibi page is about the role of the prayer/story itself in protecting people/social change)
